Mari

It all started it out with my dog Louie. He was a little min pin that I had got from a pet store. throughout the three years I had him he had major behavorial problems He was never house trained, was never OK off a leash, would eat anything in sight. Barked and growled and nipped at people at my house, little kids, the elder, my parents, my boyfriend and any dog we brought him around, etc.  one day we put Louie out on his leash to go potty and came back to him laying helplessly on the ground. We were always careful to what was around the house because we knew how he was but he had major organ shut down and the only thing I could think of was that had eaten something.  Were financially stable but the expenses from the vet threw at us were incredible.  Loving my dog, I had put all of his bills on my charge card. Unfortunately the vets did all they could do but we lost him anyways. I was devastated.  I was so in love with my baby I felt like I had nothing to come home to.  Even though I was upset,  I needed that empty space filled.  I  didn't plan on getting a dog soon because of my expenses.  I was still paying on the vet bill but still checked in the newspaper and on Petfinder everyday to see if anyone was on there that would fit me.  Two weeks later,  I found Mari.  She looked perfect from the picture! She had all of her shots, she was fixed and she was from a shelter. My boyfriend had told me not another dog.  A friend and I drove up to Lacon, an hour away, to look at Mari!  They gave us tons of papers to fill out and I had to get a letter from my landlord stating I can get another dog.  And then it came time to meet my new little baby!! They put us in this room and waited for Mari to make her appearance.  By this time I was so nervous!  When Mari was brought in, she was sat on the floor.  She was very timed and scared (she peed a lot at first).  She took one look at my friend one look at me and ran under my long dress and hid. From that moment , I knew I had to be there to protect her, to show her world and let her know its OK to be adventurous. I took her home and my boyfriend wasn't exactly happy I had gotten a puppy under his nose. He was on the couch pouting about Mari when Mari slowly moved up to him and licked him right on his nose. They were friends instantly.  I knew I won:)  After that night we went to PetsMart and got her all new toys, a collar, a leash, and a new bed. I have never seen such a little dog being so appreciative for being adopted. She truly is a great dog!! - Peoria,IL

Georgia

Hi!  Here is my story about Georgia aka (Bonneville).  She is a bloodhound mix.  I adopted Georgia from ARK shelter in 2008.  She is a great dog!  The ARK animal shelter was great!  Georgia LOVES playing with her big brother Ace, he a husky/lab/shepherd mix!  Thanks SO much to the ARK!  Georgia is a great dog! - Bloomington, IL

Maggie

We adopted her in August 2008 (adopted under name of Baby Maggie--sometimes we still call her that!).  She has been a light in our lives ever since.  She is really living the life with her brother Oscar (a boxer) here in Benson.  We just can't imagine life without either one of our babies.  They bring so much joy and laughter each day.  There is nothing in the world better than coming home from a hard day at work and having wagging tails waiting for you to take your worries away!

Thanks for keeping Maggie safe until we could come and bring her home.
